Centers for Disease Control & Prevention Building 106 Parking Deck

The CDC 106 Parking deck is a post-tensioned, 7-story cast-in-place parking garage constructed for Gilbane Building Company and the CDC at the Chamblee Campus in Tucker, Georgia. 2000 Concrete broke ground in April of 2006 and completed the elevated structure 13 weeks ahead of schedule. The 333,000 square foot parking deck was formed utilizing roof trusses and flying beam bottom tables with HDO plywood. This resulted in a smooth, Class B off-form finish. Minimal rubbing was required due to excellent consolidation techniques and extra attention to formwork surfaces.

This project was hoisted utilizing a 300-series tower crane and an 8,000-pound capacity forklift. Concrete was conveyed to the slabs-on-grade and elevated slabs utilizing the largest mobile pumps available in Atlanta, including the 65 Meter Schwing.

With over 11,000 cubic yards of concrete placed without a single lost-time accident, 2000 Concrete and Gilbane Building Company partnered to make this a very successful project for all parties involved.
