Cumberland One Parking Deck

The Cumberland One Parking Deck is a one level, post-tensioned parking deck addition to the existing parking deck structure in northwest Atlanta. The project consisted of one lift of columns, two sets of cast-in-place stairs and 50,000 SF of elevated slabs (Flat slab and beam construction). The existing parking deck was closed during the construction phase because the Structural Engineer, as a precautionary measure, required shoring all the way down to the slab-on-grade level.

Several of the new columns connections required special measures including x-rays and hand demolition to locate the existing post-tensioning tendons before future column connections could be made. Once existing P.T. cables were located, column dowels were anchored to the existing deck by means of drilling and epoxying rebar using only Sika products. Other column connections required threaded connections using Lenton couplers.

The overall project went very well and the quality of the dry and wet finished were exceptionally good. The Owner was pleased with the finish product as it was turned over on schedule.
